There are many ways you can make a difference, and the participation of every Democrat is important as we work together to re-energize and re-focus our Party.  Here are some great ways to start.

JOIN YOUR COUNTY PARTY ORGANIZATION

Each County in South Carolina has a Democratic Party organization.  The State Democratic Party web site www.scdp.org lists the County Chairs for each of South Carolina's 46 Counties.  They work with local Democrats in their area to schedule meetings and organize support for candidates and the Party as a whole.   You can also find information on local County web sites and access upcoming Party event information at that site.  If you're having trouble finding out how to get active in your area, e-mail me at joe.erwin@erwinpenland.com.

With our Statewide Party Convention coming up May 3rd, this is a great time to get involved.  Ask your County Chair if you can become a Delegate or Alternate, and how you can attend the Convention with your County Delegation.  See more details about Convention events below.

BE AN ERWIN VOLUNTEER AT THE CONVENTION !

I'd be honored to have you work as part of the Erwin Team at the State Convention in May.  Whether you've been active in the past or are just getting involved; if you're a College Democrat, Young Democrat or was one of those things once upon a time...I'd appreciate your help on May 2nd and 3rd, and want to make sure you have a chance to play an active role in this year's convention.  Just contact Youth Coordinator Jenna Micklash at jmicklash@yahoo.com.  (and no, you don't technically have to be a "youth!")

For more information about Convention-related events, scroll to the end of this page.

IF YOU'RE A YOUNG DEMOCRAT, GET INVOLVED WITH THE YD's

South Carolina has an increasingly active and exciting YD organization, and they need you!  Visit their web site at www.ydsc.org to learn more and to join their mailing list.  You can also contact Katie Fowler at State Democratic Party Headquarters by calling 803-799-7798, or e-mail her at katiefowler@hotmail.com

IF YOU'RE IN COLLEGE, GET INVOLVED WITH COLLEGE DEMOCRATS

Various Chapters of College Democrats are getting active all over South Carolina, and you should be a part of it!  Many Chapters are planning a trip to Columbia for the Statewide Convention in May, and Joe's campaign will be coordinating volunteers.

If you don't see your college listed below, contact the President of the SC Federation of College Democrats (and Clemson CD President) Caroline Elliot at ecaroli@clemson.edu.  If your college does have an active Chapter and it's not listed below, contact Shannon Wilbanks in Joe Erwin's office at shannon.wilbanks@erwinpenland.com so we can add it to this page!

The Jefferson-Jackson Dinner is one of the South Carolina Democratic Party's biggest nights of the year, and this year is especially exciting because most of the Democratic Presidential Candidates are expected to attend.  Newly re-elected U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu is the keynote speaker, and ticket prices start at $100.  This night is the kick-off to our Convention the next day, and I'd love to see you there.  Tickets are first-come, first-serve, and by reservation only.  For more information, go to 2003 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner or call Ashlie Bagwell at Party Headquarters at 803-799-7798.

S.C. DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONVENTION & PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Saturday, May 3, 2003

Columbia, South Carolina

For Delegates, Alternates, visitors, elected officials, and everyone who's part of the Democratic Party of South Carolina, this is going to be one exciting day, and you should be a part of it!  We'll elect new State Democratic Party officers -- including Chairman -- and make decisions impacting our organization and our State.  Ask your County Chairman and/or call State Democratic Party Headquarters to find out how you can attend, and watch this space for more details.

Tickets for the Presidential Debate that night are $25, with student tickets costing only $10 (with a valid student ID).  This is an historic occasion, and we believe it will be the first debate between all of the announced candidates.  Don't miss it!
